Brian M. Schmidt, DPM is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology, and Diabetes at the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. After finishing his undergraduate degree program at the University of Michigan, Dr. Schmidt proceeded to Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science to study Podiatry at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. He was an Swanson independent research scholar while there and he graduated with honors. Dr. Schmidt then completed his Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residency with added Rearfoot and Reconstructive Ankle credential at Yale University/Yale New Haven Hospital; he was awarded Podiatry Resident of the Year multiple times. Dr. Schmidt is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). He is actively supported in his research by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and industry. He is actively enrolling participants in ongoing clinical trials evaluating biomakers in diabetic foot ulcer healing and recurrence and serves the NIH Diabetic Foot Consortium as the Study Chair of its Biorepository Program .
