Dr. Veenstra’s research program is focused on factors that influence the delivery of high-value, high-quality cancer care. This includes the role of spouses/partners, other family members, and other informal supporters in patients’ receipt of high-quality cancer care. She is currently developing a dyadic intervention for survivors of colorectal cancer and their spouses/partners, to improve surveillance and survivorship care. She was recently awarded an R37 from the NCI to study variations and gaps in delivery of targeted and immunotherapies to diverse patients with metastatic cancer. The goal of this research program is to develop and implement multilevel interventions that include both patients and their informal supporters to improve the delivery of high-quality cancer care for all patients, across the continuum of cancer care.
