Michael Burns PhD, MD is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and serves as the Assistant Director of Informatics and Data Analytics at the University of Michigan. After completing his undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Microbiology at the University of Michigan in 2003, Dr. Burns received his PhD from University of Wisconsin in 2009 in Chemical and Biological Engineering. He then completed his medical training at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in 2012 before residency training in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Data Analytics and Informatics at the University of Michigan. He also completed an NIH T32 research fellowship sponsored by the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Michigan.
