Mousumi Banerjee is Anant M. Kshirsagar Collegiate Research Professor of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health and Director of Biostatistics at the Center for Healthcare Outcomes and Policy at the University of Michigan. She is also faculty in the Rogel Cancer Center and the Center for South Asian Studies at Michigan. Dr. Banerjee’s methodological research focuses on machine learning, correlated data, multilevel models, survival analyses, and competing risks with applications to healthcare delivery and outcomes research. She studies fundamental issues related to disease prognostication, optimal quality and equitable care delivery, and disparities in healthcare outcomes using large-scale disease registries and administrative claims data. Her substantive areas of research are cancer and pediatric heart disease. Dr. Banerjee has published 200+ papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and has impacted population health and health care. She is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute.
