Dr. Shih has a diverse background in public health, business administration, risk management and insurance, and actuarial science. Her research has focused on design, implementation, and evaluation of theory-based health programs for children, adolescents, pregnant women, and older adults in various settings. In addition, she has used large health and insurance datasets to examine health care disparities and continuity of health care in a universal health insurance system, specifically among children with special healthcare needs. She is interested in applying digital health technology to facilitate tailored health education and promote health literacy, quality of care, and health outcomes among new parents, college students, and adults in the workplace. Dr. Shih has several ongoing projects, all of which are aimed at developing an integrated/coordinated family-centered model to improve maternal and child health.
